YOU ALREADY KNOW that the name Canon is synonymous with quality, dependability, features, and its amazing array of lenses and accessories. Starting with the EOS 650, introduced in 1987, Canon has to date released nearly 50 EOS (Electro-Optical-System) SLR camera models. This website features, page by page, each model in Canon’s best-selling, most popular and affordable EOS Rebel series.
The first EOS Digital Rebel came along in 2003—the Digital Rebel, followed in 2005 by the Digital Rebel XT (these two are no longer in Canon’s current line-up but can still be found with some searching).
Since then, Canon has introduced seven more EOS Rebels:
- The EOS Rebel XS
- The EOS Rebel XTi
- The EOS Rebel XSi
- The EOS Rebel T1i
- The EOS Rebel T2i
- The EOS Rebel T3 (early 2011…successor to the XS)
- The EOS Rebel T3i (early 2011…successor to the T2i)
Each of these remains currently available, and the first five are detailed on the top navigation menu. The two new 2011 models will soon have their own menu tabs here, and the new T3i has a dedicated companion site of its own here.
In addition to the EOS Digital Rebel series, Canon offers higher-end models—the 1D, 5D, 7D, 50D, and the recently released 60D. Together, these “D” models too have a tab on the top menu.
IMPORTANT NOTE ON MODEL NAMES AND NUMBERS: Canon uses varying designations for its products, depending on which world market it is targeting. Note the Table below (the final two in the chart—the Rebel XS and its successor, the new T3—though introduced after many of the earlier models, are actually entry-level EOS Rebels).
